Metron: follow through on your habits, on your calendar
Metron puts your habits on the calendar you already use, then learns your week as you go. Each habit starts small, at a set time around your plans, and grows a little every week. Miss a day and nothing is lost. If one keeps slipping, Metron changes the plan to fit: a different day, a new time or a smaller amount.
Built on the published research on how habits form. It runs the founder's own calendar every day.
What usually ends a new habit for you? I forget to do it: Metron gives each habit a set time and place on your calendar, with a reminder ten minutes before. Each evening a short note lists tomorrow's habits and asks where you will be for each. I start too big: Metron starts each habit at a quarter of the amount you want and adds a little every week, so the first weeks are easy on purpose. I miss a day and give up: A missed day is normal and changes nothing, so Metron never mentions it. The one thing it marks is the day you come back. Life gets too busy: Metron reads your calendar every night and fits each habit around what is there. On a full day it shrinks the session rather than dropping it.
How long do new habits usually last for you? A few days: Then the first week is where it breaks, so Metron makes it the easiest week: a quarter of the amount, three days a week, at a set time. A few weeks: Then the plan needs to bend. If a habit keeps missing the same day, Metron moves it to a day that works, and after two misses in a week it asks whether the time or the amount is wrong. A month or two: You were close: most habits take about two months to feel automatic, and some take far longer. Metron keeps yours on the calendar as long as it takes and checks every two weeks how automatic it feels. I have not started one yet: Then start with one. Metron puts a single habit on your calendar, small enough for a bad day, and adds the next once the first has settled.
What worries you about another habit tool? One more app to check: Metron lives in the calendar you already check. Each habit is an event with its own reminder, so there is nothing new to open to see your day. It will clutter my calendar: Metron writes only to its own calendar beside yours. It shows you the first week and writes nothing until you say yes. Feeling bad when I miss: Metron keeps no count to break and never scolds. A missed day is not mentioned, and coming back is the one thing it marks. My calendar may not work: Metron works with Apple Calendar and most calendars that can share. Google Calendar is not connected yet, and we write to you when it is.
How much help do you want to keep going? I will set it up myself: Then name one habit, or let Metron suggest one. It learns your week from there and changes the plan as you go. A friend who sees my week: Metron can show your week to one person you choose. They see what was done and nothing else, and you can stop it any time. Someone to keep me on track: Then Jimmy works with you one on one: he chooses the habits with you, sets up Metron and checks in every two weeks. Not sure yet: The next screen shows both ways side by side, with what each one costs.
